Meet the Founders

Brian

brian extended 3.jpgHailing from England, Brian started running in 2006 while living in New York City. As a member of New York Road Runners he competed in races ranging from 5k – 13.1 miles improving steadily. Brian’s first full marathon was New York City in 2008 where he finished in just under 4 hours. Several moves and 14 marathons later, Brian has qualified for the Boston Marathon 9 times, with 2017 being his 5th  consecutive Boston Marathon. At the same time, he has dropped PR’s on all levels with 2015 being a banner year with all major distances recording sizeable PR’s. In 2016 Brian started competing in triathlons completing the 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 Ohio and Mingo Man Olympic Distance Triathlons.

Bryan

Bryan BioLiving a healthy and active lifestyle is one of Bryan’s top priorities. Bryan is a vegetarian, and he abides by the Hippocrates quote: “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food”. While he identifies himself by his passion which is running, he is also very active in a variety of disciplines which include, but are not limited to, strength training, biking, and swimming. Bryan was a high school athlete (basketball), but was never a runner per se. He began running about 9 years ago, and quickly found a passion in distance running. In that time, Bryan has completed 20 marathons, 18 half marathons, 8 ultra-distance races, 1 half Ironman, and a multitude of shorter races and triathlons. He’ll be running his third Boston Marathon on April 17, 2017.

Jake

Jake extended.jpgJake grew up participating in several sports ranging from cross-country to rugby.  He credits entering a Tough Mudder event as the jump start needed to improving his fitness.  Jake completed his first full marathon in 2013 in just under 4 hours.  11 marathons in 9 states later, Jake’s PR in the event improved to 2:52:57 at the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. Jake has enjoyed the wonderful relationships he has made through running.   The benefits of group training have only enhanced those experiences.

Jason

Jason extended bio.jpgJason is a former All-Big Ten tennis player at The Ohio State University. He won 6 national doubles titles in his tennis career and still plays national father and son tennis tournaments with his father. Jason became interested in running so that he could run one marathon, but then he got the running bug and has been hooked ever since. Jason started running competitively in 2012 with the goal of one day running the Boston Marathon. Jason has since qualified for the Boston Marathon 4 times and enjoys running distances ranging from the mile all the way up to the marathon. In October 2016, Jason represented Columbus, Ohio as a Marathon Ambassador at the Dresden, Germany Marathon where he ran his first sub 3 hour marathon and was the first place American. Jason has run 10 marathons and 8 half marathons.

Ken

Ken bioKen was a wrestler in High School and ran only one season of cross country his senior year to get in shape for wrestling season. He enjoyed being on the team but didn’t care too much for the running part. He served in the Army Reserves for eight years and occasionally ran but was quite inactive for many years after that. He picked up running as a way to get back in shape in 2011 and ran his first half marathon on his 42nd birthday. His first marathon, the 2011 Columbus Marathon was a tough experience and he wasn’t sure if he would ever run another one. He has since run 14 more marathons, 22 more half marathons, and 10 ultra-marathons including a 100 mile race. 12 of his marathons have been Boston Qualifiers and he will be running his fourth consecutive Boston Marathon in 2017.
