Rogue Question of the Week: What is your favorite speed workout and why?

  • Most enjoyable: long tempo. Most (perceived) beneficial: 10 x 800 (3x per season) – Bryan S
  • Probably 1,600s. Hard effort but not killer – Fred S
  • Warm up, 3 at marathon pace, 2 at threshold, 1 all out, cool down – Katie G
  • Other than my obvious love for Strava Segment workouts, my favorite two speed workouts are on the track. 10×800 with active recovery, or a track ladder workout with 2×4, 800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, 2×4 and active recovery. – Jason H
  • It’s not very practical for marathoning but I love 400 repeats. I love the short fast stuff and they are over before you realize it. – Brian K
  • 3 x 2 mile bc it leaves me with a huge sense of accomplishment. I feel like it is a great gauge of fitness – Jake R
  • Yassos – Erin A
  • I enjoy 6-8 x 200m the most. For marathon training I feel that 3 x 2 mile at HM>10k pace is a highly effective – Ryan A
  • 4×800, 4×1200, 4×400 Those 400s fly by! – Jenn G
  • 800s are my favorite. Not too long not too short. They’ve become my litmus test for where my fitness is, and I get excited for the challenge. – Sarah R
  • Mile Repeats! Depending on what race I’m working on will determine the pace, but definitely my go-to. – Amy P
  • I love when things shift to mile repeats in a training cycle. 3×2 miles is my favorite and is always a big confidence booster. I do love 400’s as well, but mile repeats for the win! – Jon J
